editing pace

And this is the final post on what to edit…and it asks the question, “Is there a consistent pace to the book?” Alternatively, have you mixed it up on purpose to reflect the action within the story?

The pace should reflect the story at all times and therefore should be an active decision, not a by-product of the writing process. If the pace is purposefully slow, you had better be a great writer to keep your reader’s interest throughout. It is far better to inject some pace to keep the story alive (albeit not at the expense of the correct flow of the book).
